Manual:Add cultural protocols
From Mukurtu Documentation
Cultural protocol based cataloging and access parameters are the core of Mukurtu. Filtering content through cultural protocols allows you to decide how you want to share and exchange content and metadata. Mukurtu archive administrators can set the cultural protocol fields to mesh with your community's already existing systems of information circulation.
While setting up your Mukurtu archive, site administrators will be able to set cultural protocols at the group level and choose an appropriate level of access for that protocol. For example, "elder" may be a protocol by which you choose to associate your content and users. Setting this protocol allows any content added to your archive to be 1) associated with the "group" elders and 2) associated with a level of access based on your own sharing protocols.
Below are the steps you will need to follow in order to set a new Cultural Protocol for your Mukurtu archive:
- Login at your mukurtu archive site with your username and password;
- Select Add Cultural Protocol on the main toolbar.
- Insert a Name and Description and fill in the other fields with the available information about this Cultural Protocol; detailed information are provided for every field within the Mukurtu interface;
- Choose a Sharing Protocol to set the level of access you want for this protocol:
- open -- Content will be open to all users of the archive
- community -- Content will be accessible to those members who share the same affiliations and are within the same cultural protocol groups. For example, if you choose to associate your content with "elder" and "male" then any one with a membership in either group will have access. If you'd like to limit this content to only those within both groups use the "strict community" sharing protocol.
- strict community -- Content associated with this group will be accessible only to users who are members of this group AND of all other selected strict community groups (if any).
- Save to submit your cultural protocol;
